Roxio will not provide any support for WinOnCD 3.8 on computers running Windows XP and there will be no Pacthes for older Version than 3.8.Ī full running and supported version of WinOnCD under Windows XP is WinOnCD 5.
Winoncd 6 dvd edition Patch#
There is a download patch available to run WinOnCD 3.8 under Windows XP. I have received the following from Roxio: It tries to be all things to all men and in the process seems to cock it up. After much trouble and advice from Pioneer, a patch for VOB is working, after a fashion. Incidentaly the recorders are IDE, Pioneer and Plextor, which worked together happily with Windows Me. Will also disable the Windows CD writer and see if that helps. I have contacted them to get a clearer idea of what they mean as the site has various downloads and patches. I have spoken to roxio and they suggest a patch at īut this refers to Eas圜D. Will try and load Direct CD as well as the WinOnCD to see if that disables the problem. Thanks for the advice but it still does not work. But I don't think that's your problem (though I don't know what the problem is either )
You can turn off XP's recording manually by opening the Properties for the recorder drive and unchecking the appropriate box - it's pretty obvious. Also are you sure your recorders are supported.
Winoncd 6 dvd edition driver#
The XP patch that Roxio have posted looks as if it's just a driver module, so the fix must just have been at driver level.ĭo you have any other CD software installed? That can give rise to driver conflicts. I'd used WinOnCD previously under beta releases of XP, and it co-existed happily, but it stopped working by the time the XP final version came out. It's DirectCD where the conflict arises, because that offers drag-n-drop to the CD drive which XP's recording also does.Īfter installing and updating WinOnCD and DCD I found that XP's recording had disappeared, and I'm almost certain it was DCD that disabled it. WinOnCD should not have a problem with built-in recording.

Home of the MediaStudio Pro 6 Tutorial, and free 6.5 Supplement (You can also now buy WinOnCD 5 from the Roxio UK shop site, in £ - that's new too)
It's the first time in ages I've seen any mention of it on as opposed to. I get just a tiny inkling that maybe Roxio are starting to take WinOnCD more seriously. I hope this is useful for WinOnCD owners. I'm not sure which product disabled it, but it's probably DCD. XP's built-in CD recording ends up being disabled. And the UI comes up in English with no tweaking.
Winoncd 6 dvd edition install#
It will install provided WinOnCD is installed - you don't have to have your old version of DCD installed first. The "DirectCD update" is version 5.10 (apparently newer than what's shipped with WinOnCD 5) and is a complete copy of DirectCD. You have to have the SR2 level already installed, if you don't have SR2 you can download the appropriate patch from the same page. The "XP Wizard for WinOnCD 3.8" makes 3.8 run properly in XP. WinOnCD is at the bottom - click on that and you get to the list of all available patches. Go to select Support at the top, then on the next page the products are listed down the left. I've subsequently discovered that there are English versions of the download pages too. Not often I say something like that, but I've now got WinOnCD & DirectCD running in Windows XP without having to buy an upgrade.Īfter musing on whether to cough up for WinOnCD 5, I had a nose round the Roxio Germany Website and found there are now downloadable updates to both WinOnCD 3.8 and DirectCD to make them Windows XP compatible - and both with English user interfaces
