I have a Dell laptop and an HP laptop. With both of them, if I leave the computer idle for, say, 20 minutes, the screen goes black. And when I then touch my mouse or keyboard, the screen goes back on.But there is a difference:With my HP, when my screen goes back on, I get the blue screen with the HP logo, 'Locked', and the 'Switch User' button.
Then plug in the power cord back to your router, wait for a few moments and then turn on your computer. Now the Internet connection on your PC should become steady if the problem is with the broadband modem. If your internet keeps disconnecting even after this, try the next step; 2.
Only when I click on the HP logo do I get back to where I was. Whereas with my Dell, I immediately get back to where I was.
And during the time the screen was black, my Dell stays connected to the internet, while my HP does not.Is there a way to set up my HP so that it too will behave as my Dell behaves when I leave it idle? Thanks in advance. Hi:On your HP PC, there is a setting that is set to require logon when you exit the screensaver. You just need to uncheck it.This link explains it better than I can.Now for the internet not connecting right up.You can use Device Manager to change the power management settings for a network adapter. To disable this setting in Device Manager, expand Network Adapters, right-click the adapter, click Properties, click the Power Management tab, and then clear the Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power check box.Paul.
Hello,I having trouble with wifi on my laptop.I could connect to any network from wifi but it is frequently disconnecting.Just before disconnecting the wifi range decreases to low like the hotspot device far away even it is near to my laptop,There is no issue while connecting via LAN.I have updated the adapter to latest from device manager but issue still persists. The current version is.Manufacturer: Realtek Semiconductor Corp.Description: Realtek RTL8723BE 802.11 bgn Wi-Fi AdapterDriver version: 20.2017Please help me on this.Thank you. Thank you for joining HP Forums.I'll be glad to help youAs I understand the WiFi keeps disconnecting,Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:Did you reinstall the network drivers? Or update it from the using a wired internet connection? While you respond to that, I recommend the below steps:Go to Device manager select the WIFI drivers under network adapter Right click go to properties Under properties go to Power Management Tab Uncheck 'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power'.If the issue persists, continue with the below steps:.If your computer has a wireless key or button on or near the keyboard and the wireless activity light is off or amber in color, then press the key or button to enable your wireless adapter. This key might be the F10 key, F12 key or labeled with a symbol of an airplane. If wireless activity comes on or the activity light turns blue, you have enabled wireless on your system.
Try connecting to the Internet again. Hello,Thank you so much for your time,In regards to.' Did you reinstall the network drivers? Or update it from the using a wired internet connection?'
-I had tried to update the wifi dirver from device manager - network adapter - Realteck wifi adapter - update driver.' Go to Device manager select the WIFI drivers under network adapter Right click go to properties Under properties go to Power Management Tab Uncheck 'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power'.- I had tired the above steps which I saw in another post, but it does'nt help to fix the issue. Do you recommed this option always uncheck becuase I turned this on again. If the option is checked at what situation the computer wil turn the wifi off?' If your computer has a wireless key or button on or near the keyboard and the wireless activity light is off or amber in color, then press the key or button to enable your wireless adapter. This key might be the F10 key, F12 key or labeled with a symbol of an airplane.'
- This is something basic, I am sure that the Airplane mode is not activated.Another probelm started with the wifi issue is that the battery is draining too fast, The device has only half of the battery backup now.PS: An windows update is now running (version 1709), I will update you if the new update fix this issue.Thank you.
